The University of Mississippi is excited about your interest in the School of Medicine, which offers a four-year course of study leading to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. The program is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
Students in 2017 will attend classes in the new $74 million School of Medicine building. The 151,569 square-foot, five-story building will help increase the number of physicians working in Mississippi and will enable the School of Medicine to enlarge its incoming class size each year to ultimately reach a minimum 165.
We strive to offer students an excellent, comprehensive and interrelated program of medical education, biomedical research and health care. Our ultimate goal is to meet our mission to achieve a healthier Mississippi by providing quality and equitable health care to all citizens of the state, the region and nation. To support this, the School of Medicine offers a program of medical education that trains a diverse, skilled, compassionate and respectful physician workforce in numbers consistent with the health care needs of Mississippi.
We nurture professionals who are responsive to health care disparities and who are committed to medical education as a continuum through their professional lives.
